Erisco Gains Ability to Pre-integrate Its Software with Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association's Computer Network Through Participation in Vendor Program
NEWPORT BEACH, CA – January 23, 2001 – The TriZetto(R) Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: TZIX), announced today that its subsidiary, Erisco, Inc., a leading provider of software-based business solutions for healthcare payer organizations, has been named the first software vendor to participate in the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association's (BCBSA) Inter-plan Teleprocessing Services (ITS) Vendor Program. Through the agreement, Erisco will develop integrated software solutions and provide enhanced services to the BCBSA member plans. Erisco currently provides Facets(R), the industry leading client/server system, to 27 percent of all Blue Cross and Blue Shield member plans, the largest share served by a payer administration software vendor.
As part of the ITS Vendor Program, Erisco's services will allow BCBSA and its member plans to better communicate as a system, making it more efficient and effective for the end consumer. The ITS system enables Blue Cross and Blue Shield plan subscribers to obtain healthcare services while traveling or living in another Blue plan's service area, linking participating providers and the independent BCBS plans across the country through a single electronic network.
As a program member, Erisco is able to pre-integrate its Facets software with the ITS system. Currently, BCBS member plans' licensing administration software must develop an individual solution and perform ongoing modifications in order to communicate via the national networks. The agreement also will give Erisco access to periodic updates to the system, ensuring rapid implementation of changes.
"Erisco is committed to serving the unique needs of Blue Cross Blue Shield plans across the country," says Rich Kerian, senior vice president of operations at Erisco. "Our agreement with the BCBS Association gives us the tools to provide advanced customer service to member plans by enabling us to provide a comprehensive solution and remove the burden from our BCBS customers."
