TriZetto to Expand its Medicare Software and Services to Include Complete Part D Solution for Health Plans

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. – June 23, 2005 – The TriZetto Group Inc. (NASDAQ: TZIX) announced that it is expanding its existing Medicare software and services to support the new requirements for Medicare Part D, the government's prescription drug benefit that will take effect January 1, 2006. TriZetto currently has 23 Medicare health plan customers, which use its Facets® enterprise software to process medical transactions for 16 percent of all managed Medicare members.

Facets has supported Medicare Advantage plans since 1997; however, TriZetto is now enhancing the software to administer the new Medicare Part D drug benefit. In conjunction with these software enhancements, TriZetto will also be offering a new Medicare Part D FastTrak service, a fully outsourced option that combines hosted Facets software with business services. This solution will allow a health plan to enter the Part D market faster and with minimal impact to its current operations.

Part D FastTrak, as well as the Medicare Part D software, will be available to customers in September. The Part D software will also be retrofitted back to existing Facets customers currently using the 4.x version of the software.

Key new features of Facets will include the following:

Enrollment and Billing: Facets will receive and store the additional information that the Center for Medicare Services (CMS) requires to enroll a Part D beneficiary. Facets will be automatically populated with the data returned by CMS, and this information can be used for monthly and annual reconciliation activities.

Facets will support direct payment of the enrollee's premiums to the health plan, for those members who select this option. Health plans will also be able to administer and track late enrollment penalties.

Reporting/Fulfillment Services: Through Facets, the health plan will be able to generate member ID cards and correspondence related to Part D benefits. In addition, Facets can be configured to provide pharmacy benefits managers (PBM) with the member's co-pay, deductible and co-insurance information, for accurate claims processing.

Customer Service: The influx of new enrollees and the complexities associated with the Part D product are likely to increase the volume and duration of inquiries to the health plan's customer service desk. Inquiries pertaining to eligibility for benefits, late enrollment penalties, and continuity of coverage can be easily handled through Facets' customer service application.

Appeals and Grievances: Facets has a separate application designed specifically to handle the rigorous record keeping that CMS requires for tracking and reporting all formal grievances and appeals.

The following Part D software features will be available to customers by fourth quarter:

Reconciliation: Using Facets, the health plan can identify any discrepancies in the monthly CMS capitation payments it receives. It can also validate the member's risk adjustment factors, on which CMS payments are based. The health plan can also use this functionality to manage reinsurance and risk corridor calculations.

According to Tony Bellomo, executive vice president of TriZetto's software unit, Medicare reform and Part D have created an enormous opportunity for health plans, but they also have imposed significant demands.

"Health plans must move quickly to get their systems ready for November enrollment of Part D members," said Bellomo. "At TriZetto, we are committed to providing complete and timely Medicare and Part D solutions to get health plans up and running quickly. Our enhancements to Facets will address not only Part D enrollment, but also billing and connectivity to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Our software will also provide the health plan with the customer service tools it needs to track and handle the new types of inquiries Part D is likely to generate from members. .At TriZetto, we can offer an end-to-end Part D technology solution to help our customers in all these areas."

TriZetto Medicare Part D FastTrak can be deployed by health plans of any size in less than six months. This service uses pre-configured benefits and implementation methodologies to reduce the time and expense of running Facets for Part D. The hosted software is integrated with Medicare CMS eligibility systems, and the business services include eligibility and enrollment administration, as well as premium billing.

"Whether a health plan prefers to license software, or fully outsource the hosting and administration to our professional staff, TriZetto has the technology and services expertise to help our customers compete effectively in the government arena," added Bellomo.
